Pushpa 2: The Rule Breaks Records Worldwide and Surpasses Pathaan in Just a Week
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has achieved a historic milestone, shattering box office records worldwide. The film, directed by Sukumar, surpassed the lifetime earnings of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in just seven days, making it the fastest Indian movie to cross the ₹1000 crore mark.
Unprecedented Box Office Success
By the end of its first week, Pushpa 2: The Rule earned an estimated ₹1062 crore worldwide, according to trade sources, while conservative figures put it at ₹1012 crore. Either way, the film outperformed Pathaan, which grossed ₹1048 crore globally during its entire theatrical run.
This remarkable achievement makes Pushpa 2 the fastest film to join the ₹1000 crore club, beating Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which took 10 days to reach the same milestone.
Path to New Milestones
With no signs of slowing down, Pushpa 2 is well on its way to surpassing other Indian blockbusters like Jawan (₹1149 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (₹1192 crore), KGF Chapter 2 (₹1250 crore), and RRR (₹1307 crore). Trade analysts predict it could become one of India’s top three highest-grossing films of all time, potentially overtaking Baahubali 2 (₹1788 crore). However, Dangal (₹2026 crore) remains a tough benchmark to beat.
A Star Cast and Fan Frenzy
The film features Allu Arjun alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, continuing the story of the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. The fan excitement surrounding Arjun has been unparalleled, but the overwhelming response to the movie premiere resulted in tragedy.
During the premiere at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, Allu Arjun’s surprise visit with co-star Rashmika Mandanna and his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, drew massive crowds. The chaos escalated into a stampede-like situation, leading to the death of a woman due to asphyxiation and her son being hospitalized in critical condition.
Legal Trouble for Allu Arjun
Following the incident, Hyderabad police filed an FIR against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management, citing negligence and failure to notify authorities of the actor’s visit. Arjun was arrested and initially sent to 14 days of judicial remand, but the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail on Friday. Due to technical delays, he was released from custody on Saturday morning.
Industry Stands with Arjun
Despite the controversy, Allu Arjun has received overwhelming support from fans and colleagues in the industry. Notable stars like Jr NTR, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Charan’s mother Surekha, Rana Daggubati, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have voiced solidarity with the actor. Jr NTR, currently in Mumbai for War 2 shooting, called Arjun to express his support.
Director Sukumar and other Tollywood celebrities, including Naga Chaitanya, Vivek Oberoi, Rashmika Mandanna, and Varun Dhawan, visited Arjun’s home to show their backing. Many have praised the actor for his commitment to addressing the tragedy and offering financial assistance to the victim’s family.
Allu Arjun’s Response
Allu Arjun expressed his heartbreak over the incident, extending his condolences to the victim’s family and pledging ₹2.5 million to support them. He has also promised to cover the medical expenses of the injured boy and meet the family personally.
Despite the challenges, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the global box office, solidifying Allu Arjun’s status as one of India’s most bankable stars.
